Irene Lasnau Obituary

Irene Jones Lasnau, 64, left this earth to be with her heavenly father on November 8th, 2020. Born to Frank V. Jones, Jr. and Lenora Peebles in Pasadena, TX, on March 5th, 1956. Irene was the third, and final, addition to the Jones family. She shared her parent’s affection with her two older brothers, Frank and James.  Her early years were typical of girls growing-up in Pasadena, TX in the 1950s and 1960s, full of dresses, dolls, piano lessons, and the occasional trip to the local drive-in for a family outing. Irene attended Mae Smythe Elementary, San Jacinto intermediate, and Rayburn High School, where she excelled in home economics, cooking, and sewing.  Upon graduation, Irene attended San Jacinto College, but found college was not for her. Instead, she obtained a job at the Houston 7-up bottlings plant. She was the life of any gathering and loved to dance.

On New Year's Eve, 1976, in Houston, TX, Irene was asked to dance by Willard Clarence Lasnau, Jr. (Junior) or as she referred to him affectionally as “JR", the love of her life.  Irene and “JR” married on February 11th, 1977 and started their family soon after. They would have three children in all, Miriah in December of 1977, and Alana and Nikolaus, twins, joined in June of 1982. Irene loved being a mother and applying all her skills and time to that task.  She ran a tight ship and expected all to follow her lead. Irene could be stern at times, but hugs and kisses, or her famous cookies always followed.  Her bubbly infectious personality, love for her husband and children, was evident the moment you meet her.  This led to her innate ability to never meet a stranger or did she lack the confidence to strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime, and at anywhere… I mean anywhere (especially in the grocery store line).

Later in life, Irene returned to college to pursue a real-estate license. She finished all the classes, except for math. She would set in her favorite chair at the kitchen table and do homework for hours on end. Her determination and fortitude were an inspiration to us all. She never said, “I can’t”, or “there is no way”. Irene always found or made a path and faced adversity with a smile.

Irene leaves behind her husband and soulmate, Willard Clarence Lasnau, Jr., of 43 years; Miriah Hallinan and husband Jeffery; Alana Bostick; Nikolaus Lasnau; grandchildren Jared Hallinan, Haley Hallinan, Christian Bostick and Ruth Bostick; Brother Frank Jones III and wife Karen; and numerus nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank V Jones Jr., and mother, Lenora Jones; and brother, James Jones. The family will be holding a celebration of life at Faith Temple Church located on 24081 Ford Rd, Porter, TX, 77365, on Tuesday November 17th at 2:00pm. Come and celebrate the enteral warmth and happiness Irene left within the people she so loved. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association.
